The Meeting Space, Tiny House Community Bristol

Aka the Bender.

The Meeting space is a unique structure that was designed and built in collaboration with members of Tiny House Community Bristol during the summer of 2019.

The design was inspired by the nomadic structures of Britain, called Benders, which use long flexible poles of hazel or willow. These poles, in this case hazel sourced direct from coppice on site, were lashed to stakes in the ground and then bent and fixed into the centre crown piece, which is more akin to a yurt design. Secondary poles were then weaved into the main structure in a spiral pattern, somewhat resembling a sunflower.

The structure is now a cosy space, with a raised pallet floor and wood burner, used by members of the organisation to host meetings and gatherings.
